How to remove water stains from car upholstery

Ideally, you'll want to get rid of water spots as quickly as possible because the longer you leave it on, the longer it will take to clean up. However, I have used this simple technique over the years on some pretty tough water spots and it worked for me.
1. Required materials
- Tray
- Dishes soap
- White vinegar

- soft toothbrush or toothbrush

2. Mix water and detergent
Add warm water to a clean bucket and add a few drops of dish soap. It is not necessary to buy a special soap, just use the one you have at home. Don't add too much detergent because you don't need a lot of bubbles. Stir the mixture until the detergent dissolves.
Detergent is an excellent fabric cleaner because it contains degreasing agents that break down oils and greases. It also has a high pH level, which helps remove dirt, sweat, and other soils from fabrics. In addition, the detergent is gentle on fabrics and leaves no residue or streaks. This makes the detergent excellent for cleaning water spots from your headliner.
3. Add the mixture to a spray bottle
Add the water and detergent mixture to a spray bottle. You can add it to a spray bottle or dip a clean microfiber towel into the bucket. However, I prefer to use the spray bottle method because you have more control that way. If you do get the towel wet, you will need to wring it out until there is enough solution on the towel, but not too much, so as not to wet the headlining.
4. Spray the mixture on the water stains
Take the spray bottle and spray the mixture directly on the water spots. Be sure not to get the headliner wet. Just add enough of the mixture to cover the water spots. In fact, you will most likely have to do this step several times before the water spots are completely gone.
5. Use a soft brush or toothbrush to remove water stains.
Use a clean soft brush or toothbrush to remove water stains from your car roof. Be sure to use circular motions and apply pressure to help loosen any dirt or debris that may be causing the stains. Depending on how stubborn the water spots are, you could spend a few minutes brushing them off.
6. Wipe the headliner with a clean microfiber towel
By brushing off water spots with a soft brush, you can see the results. When you get the desired results, wipe down the headliner with a clean microfiber towel and allow it to dry for a few minutes. Once the headliner is completely dry, review the results and see if you need to go over it again.
7. If you are not satisfied with the results, go back to step four
Don't be surprised if you spray and brush the water spots more than once. If the water stains are a few years old, you may need to perform the steps more than once. That is why I said that it is better to act while the water stains are still new. I had a water stained car that had been there for as long as I can remember. It took me about 4 cleaning sessions to completely remove them. It may not be the case with your vehicle, but I'm just saying.
8. Pour white vinegar on water stains.
Once the water stains are removed from the headliner, it's time to neutralize the odors. Pour some white vinegar onto a clean microfiber towel and wipe the area where the water spots were present. The white vinegar will help disinfect the area and remove any lingering odors.
